Day 4: Room for one more...

4/365

How do we know if we have space in our lives for another person or how do we make the space for one more person?

I know for many of us the end goal is to find our life partners, but how do we know if we are ready for it?

Lately I have been picturing how my life would look if I were to make room for another person. Part of me has been unsettled by the thought. If you have also felt this, does it simply mean we are not ready for someone? Or do we need to acknowledge that it can be bittersweet to welcome something exciting into our lives because we know it inevitably changes things and takes away some of what we have now? There may also be an underlying nervousness of time passing. Maybe the feeling of not wanting things to change is a way to slow down time. We can agree that it’s a hopeless task though.

So, does making space for one more person mean sacrificing time, money, and social battery? This seems ironic since most of us are already making these sacrifices to ‘put ourselves out there’ in hopes of meeting someone.

Maybe these worries suddenly disappear when we meet someone worth making space for, and it comes more naturally than we thought possible.

And maybe the cliché saying is true, things really do fall into place when we are least expecting.
